DC Hospital Group Endorses Klingle
April 30, 2003
The District of
Columbia Hospital Association (DCHA), which represents 18 local area
hospitals, recently endorsed the opening of
Klingle Road. DCHA said, "The
importance of opening Klingle Road cannot be overstated. When the time
between life and death is measured in minutes, the connection across
Rock Creek Park can save many minutes and many lives."
DCHA's endorsement is fully consistent with emergency vehicles' long
history of utilizing park roads, including Klingle Road. Neighbors who
heard sirens on Klingle when Klingle was open was because emergency
vehicles were using Klingle Road to get from one side of the park to the
other. Police and Secret Service used Klingle Road too. Many doctors
used Klingle to travel back and forth from hospitals located east and
west of the park. Our pediatrician used it quite often to get from his
home in Ward 3 to Children's Hospital.
Restore Klingle Road as a transportation resource is a good thing for
our doctors, emergency personnel and for all of us in our already
overburdened transportation infrastructure.
